About the role
We are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to help build and operate a dependable enterprise platform. You will work across Java and Spring Boot services, APIs, data persistence, and web interfaces, making practical design decisions and taking responsibility for software quality throughout its lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with engineers and product stakeholders in a hybrid team based in Sofia.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop maintainable services using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
- Build and integrate REST APIs, relational data models, and React interfaces.
- Translate requirements into technical designs and deliver features through testing, review, and release.
- Strengthen resilience, security, monitoring, and the reliability of distributed applications.
- Investigate production issues, improve delivery pipelines, and contribute to operational support.
- Share knowledge, review code, and help colleagues make sound engineering decisions.
Requirements
- At least five years of software engineering experience, with strong production Java and Spring Boot expertise.
- Hands-on experience with React and JavaScript or TypeScript, alongside strong backend development skills.
- Experience with REST APIs, object-oriented design, distributed systems, relational databases, and ORM tools.
- Practical experience with cloud-based applications, Git, CI/CD, and automated unit and integration testing.
- Confidence using AI-assisted development tools while retaining responsibility for code review, correctness, and security.
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Willingness to support production services and participate in an on-call rota when required.
